Do you ever find yourelf in a situation where you would love to say soemthing to someone but it is just not your place to do so ????

Get on the tube this morning and i stand next to a "quite" large girl, probably not even in her 30's yet and she is sitting there stuffing her face on a big chocolate croissant. She finsihes and there are crubms in her hair, pastry down her front and stains on the rather attractive cardigan she was wearing.

Now here is the problem, it is not my place or my business to say anything BUT - surely it is in her interest for me to subtly point out that if she spent less time eating chocolate croissant and stuffing her face in the morning, she would be half the size and look a lot more presentable.

This is not an attack on fat people or chocolate croissants, just a PERSONAL opinion.

Honesty is the best policy.

Should have said

'Look love, if what goes in your mouth is more than what comes out of your arse you're going to end up looking like that'

I am reminded of a story that a rather well endowed friend of Mrs Plotloss told me. She was stood on the platform at Earls Court and a 50 something cheeky chappy walks up to her plain as day, points at her chest and enquires 'Blimey, they all yours gal?'

Amused me for weeks...

Think it but don't say it. There are many people out there that think we drive too fast. I don't need them to tell me about it. She's making choices for herself and for it to be otherwise would 'nanny state'.

Yep, you should have turned to her, screwed your face up and said "God, you disgust me!"

Anorexic within a week - guaranteed.

if this post offends anyone - mail me and I'll, anonymously, remove it.

And you'd probably upset her and worsen the problem.

But there is the chance she's perfectly happy and has decided she likes being happy and fat more than being miserable and thin.

Or one of the gang of blokes on my construction site a few years back who suggested out loud we find another cafe as "it looks like she's eaten everything" while pointing at a big fat bird stuffing a fry up!

I was totally unable to order my breakfast for laughing!!

this alays amuses me when people, celebs especially say "oh I'm happy being fat, why should we all be stereotyped and skinny". Then you hear they've shed 5 stone and are on a strict diet and saying how much beter they feel. Michelle McMassive is currently doing this.

A bit of helpful criticism shouldn't be discouraged, though.

To use your driving analogy, wouldn't it be better if PC Plod pulled you over and said that was the best bit of driving he'd seen. You just missed the apex on the roundabout?

On the flip side, I used to sit there biting my tongue whilst my uber-lentilist housemates from last year used to do the cooking, which would consist of them snogging passionately right in front of the TV I was in the middle of watching, then having a tearful debate about the most ethical and energy-efficient way of cooking today's Quorn concoction.

Crikey - I bet most of the blokes behind the keyboards in this thread could lose a few pounds too. Leave the lady alone. So you don't fancy her and she made a bit of a mess of herself scoffing. Live and let live. This world would be boring if we all looked the same (or drove the same cars).

As for the original poster - maybe she thought you were a scrawny git and was thinking about offering you a bite as you obviously needed it more than her (or maybe not).
