that is incredible.
autism is a very interesting subject as it obviously does affect most sufferers quite badly in terms of social skills etc. but it can unleash some amazing brain power that is just not known to the rest of the public.
there is an autistic boy in my halls of residence who took it upon himself to learn the names of every person in the hall in the first week or so. i thought that that was impressive as i often forget friends names!
but that autistic man is absolutley amazing.

I read about him in the paper last week sometime. Learnt Icelandic in a week and Spanish in a weekend.

IIRC there is a documentary about him on Channel 4 next week.

Just put it into my personal planner, looks interesting. Spanish in a weekend? Took me weeks to pick up the basics when I was in S. America.

[brag mode]My great grandfather (I think it was his brother actually, shows you how good my memory is ) learnt greek in 2 weeks, and passed exams to a university standard. IIRC he also held Max Euwe to a draw (obviously whilst playing chess)

I, on the other hand, am pretty nifty at yahoo pool, and learnt enough french to order a double vodka in france (mostly pointing - I got 2 singles in the end)
