Tivo spare gadget for anyone

Anyone here got a Tivo? I have an adaptor that allows the Tivo to control a Pace NTL cable box via the IR socket. Its surplus to requirements now. Anyone want it (not the Tivo!)?

i was thinking about getting tivo but it seems to a be product/service that is being killed in the UK.

big in the US, given up in the UK. typical.

The TiVo System relied on a subscription for the Electronic Program Guide to work. The new Freeview HDD recorder boxes pick it up "off-air" so even if the TiVo was still about that would have killed it. Sky+ follows the same line really.

Tivo also left marketing the service to Sky who did not really push it so much since Sky+ was in the works. Had one but now have sky+ as it is simpler to use with sky thus has higher waf.

Tive was generally a lot better designed and nicer UI, would be best of both if Sky would license the Tivo technology for Sky+

Is this device a serial one? 9 pin square connector on one end and a little sticky thing on the other? If so it's nicknamed a redeye and can be reconfigured for use with sky boxes, and used to change the channel from a PC serial port. We are using one here.

I have a lifetime sub to Tivo, so I just leave it plugged into the phone line and it does its stuff overnight.

The little doobrie is just a convertor box so you can plug the IR emitters into it. Without it, you can't control a Pace NTL box.

Really ? news to me, where's your source ?

I used to pay a tenner a month then took out a lifetime subsription. It's an absolutely fantastic piece of kit.
