The play where the man was a plant

I'm not making this up... several years ago there was a 'made-for-TV' play centering on a large Victorian house split up into flats. There were maybe 4 or 5 flats in all, each with a man, woman or couple in it, and a garden outside. I can't remember the general plot, but the twist was that one of the men died - he was an astronomer who had a telescope in his room - but underneath his skin was not flesh and blood, but branches, tendrils etc - in other words he was not an human but a plant. It was very well done, but I can't think what it was called - any PHers with a good memory?
