Nah, its still illegal. Welshmen on the other hand...
Isnt there still a law somewhere about Welshmen, archery, and one day a year?

I'm half Scot, does that mean if I go to York I can expect a cross bow bolt and in which half?

In the times of the troubles of the 18th century, an English army was moving through the highlands, when a single figure appeared on the ridge above them.
"Ah'm MacGregor of the Glen, and I'll take ye all on!" he shouted down at them.
The commander halted his troop, and called out "Sargeant Smithwick! Take two men and capture that impudent scoundrel!".
The three men climbed up the ridge and over the top and there was the sound of a struggle.
MacGregor came back over the ridge and shouted down "Is that the best ye can do? I'll take ye all on!"
The commander called out "Captain Carstairs! Take ten men and capture that cad!".
The ten men climbed the ridge and over the top, and there was a prolonged sound of the clash of arms.
MacGregor came back over the top of the ridge, looking disheveled, and shouted down "Ten? It'll take more than ten of ye tae capture a MacGregor!",
The commander called out, irritated, to his troop "Lieutentant Ponsonby, take twenty men, and kill that offensive man!".
The twenty men climbed the ridge, and there was a long sound of shouting, clash of steel, and screams.
Eventually a single trooper crawled back over the ridge, and called down to the commander "Its a trap! Its a trap! There are two of them!".
Just read an article in a newspaper which reviews a newly published book which is a collection of interesting but not very useful facts.
Except for a few it seem.

Apparently it is legal to shoot a Scotsman in York but only at night and if they are within the City walls. (Edit: and not on a Sunday.)
Now, iirc, there is a certain Scot who has some significant interests connected with York and possibly visits on a regular basis.
So come on all you folk in York - seek this person out and do your public duty.

That's right there's a plaque on the city walls stating as such. So no defence if you get shot. Good rule but being a Scot, the York law is totally outrageous!
So where's all the places you can shoot English Men???
