Rejoice! A proper mobile phone...
Discussion
Its a bit of a brick, but hopefully it will prompt other manufacturers to follow suit. I'm not saying everyone wants a simple phone, but 90% of friends all complain about bloated features on phones when all they want is to make calls and send text messages.
I think they're on to something.
Mobile phone designers take note - make a nice, small, easy-to-use, fast mobile phone, without a camera/music player/video camera/etc. and you'll sell them by the millions. I personally guarantee it.

My phone will do all sorts of useful things, take piccys play music record video etc etc etc.... I used these facilities constantly for the first 3 hours of ownership. Since then i've used the phone for making calls and texting, the same in fact as my previous phone which could only make calls and text.....

According to the figures, over 20 per cent of people said they have accidentally broken a device through misuse.
How the f**k can you break a mobile phone through misuse? Other than physically dropping it in a bucket of water, jumping on it or driving over it. I doubt somehow this “simple” phone is going to resolve the aforementioned causes of failure?

Yeah, struck me as odd too. But, I don't care what they say to justify it, I just want a simple phone!

Likewise......except I don't even use texting

Dad! I've found you a phone! Seriously though - I don't need a camera phone because I have a camera, I don't need games because I've got a computer, and as for WAP - well it's like the internet in read-only format - easier just to pick up a free newspaper!
I use my phone for calls, texts and (very) occasionally WAP - and that's all I want to pay for.

By losing your temper and throwing it on the floor in frustration, of course.![]()
or hearing one play

But I think this is such a nice idea.
Hands up who
1) Uses WAP
2) Uses another ringtone apart from built in
3) Camera for wedding photos
4) media messaging.
5) Advanced network features data access etc
6) or games

Exactly.
1) No
2) No - well actually a lie. I had to DOWNLOAD a bloody ring tone that actually rings as all the ones on the phone are "musical" ones.
3) No
4) No
5) No
6) No
It's a great idea. But I've already solved the problem, by ignoring all the marketing shite trying to push me into getting a new phone when I don't want one. This gives me the additional advantage over this new model that when the battery grinds to a halt I can re-cell it with standard NiMH AAA cells at a cost of not much over a fiver, instead of buying some fancy custom battery for ten times the cost.
