New address and databases

I recently moved into a new build flat which has been assigned a new address. However, trying to fill in various forms online to say I've moved (car insurance, cards etc) is a problem. Most places report the address is invalid as they have no record of it. This means I have to phone them up to do it.

Does anyone know how to get my address into "the system" so they these sites don't keep rejecting it? How long till it gets accepted?

(a) Its got to get onto the Post Office's PAF (Postcode address file) database.
(b) The PO have to distribute the latest version
(c) Each and every company that uses the PAF has to recieve and use the new version.

So, the actual answer is "how long is a piece of string?"

We had this exact problem when we moved into our last (new) house. Give it six months and the postcode/number combination will be available.

In the meantime - prepare for constant shite on the web and over the phone as they blithely tell you that your flat/house doesn't exist!

Arse. I had a feeling that might be the case; I was just hoping there might have been a way to expedite the system. Oh well....
