Liverpool songs on the Radio, All day. (ferry across mersey, walk on (not the fantastic U2 track), and countless beatles repeats.

the first 15 minutes of the BBC 6oclock news dedicated to them.

What I wonder is that if chelsea had won, would there have been so much coverage????

The style of the victory captured peoples imaginations, if it had been a crappy game with no action then there would be a lot less coverage but coming back from 3 - 0 down was brilliant. Britain loves an underdog. Liverpool seems to be a club with passionate fans from Liverpool unlike ManU, Chelsea etc.....

I'd agree with mcecm. It was a great game for the neutrals and there are VERY few teams I would support in european competitions just because they are British largely through rivalry (and petty jealousy)
but I really wanted Liverpool to do it and I really wouldn't have wanted Chelsea to.

why would a neutral feel anymore empathy to liverpool?

I think it's the whole aura of Chelsea; the tapping up, the managers arogance, the cash spent, the fans denial that the cash has made any difference, the Ken Bates years, the manager's refusal to admit any team is better than his... it's a cumulative thing.

I wanted the Pool to win, can't abide that arrogant tw@t Mourinho, he got lucky against us in the UEFA cup final a few years back. After the Liverpool defeat all he could muster was 'the best team lost'.

There's always going to be the money factor as well with Chelski. They've spent nigh on 200 million on players and they can buy anyone they want.

Also the underdog factor and all that....

I was always last picked at school... but that was effect, not cause, as I already hated it. We have to celebrate sporting success in this country, don't begrudge the BBC and every other channel their chance to show the greatest final ever. I for one won't get bored of the endless repeats!

I was born in Liverpool maternity hospital. Within earshot of whatever bells it is you are supposed to hear to be a true scouser. So FWIW I have more bragging rights than all those people who dug red shirts out of their bottom draw this morning. It's like being in America for St Patricks day when everyone suddenly discovers their Irish ancestry ( I have a good story about this for another time).
To tell you the truth I don't care where I was born. I am a citizen of this planet. The sooner people break out of their simple tribal bonds the sooner we will have some peace on this planet.
