Burying your mates - you don't expect it.

OK tough day, went to a funeral today - mate I have known since I was three, only twelve weeks younger, lived just up the road from me passed away last week, had heart problems.
He had a similar problem to my father and went through a triple heart bypass in January all going well untill he developed pneumonia and lost the fight a week ago last Sunday.
It makes you take stock, grab every day folks!

A colleague who I had worked closely with for several years (trips to Russia, his project has been using about 80% of my work time) killed himself recently. I saw him for the last time only a few days before he did the deed, and while he didn't look chipper, and I knew he was just starting in on a divorce, it was still a shock. I sort of kick myself for not reaching out to him more in those final days but he was a very private and closed type of guy, and the type who would ask for help if he wanted it, turning it down when offered unasked, so I let him be.
Several colleagues here have had cancer, etc. and thankfully most have been cured, but a couple have died, maybe just because I'm working with an older crowd and/or that I have stayed on this job for 15 years (which is a very long time for any job to last anymore in the States anyway)
I guess it's well said that we are at best here for a good time, but anyway not for a long time.

Liebchen... I am sorry. It hurts so much when a good pal who ist same age dies - nicht?
Perhaps he would like you to think of him and remember just the good things and just celebrate having known him. Keep him in your heart - he will be immortal there - like my own relatives und pals.

I guy I went to school with died recently. I wasnt mates with him or anything but doesn't half make you realise that death can strike anyone at anytime. This happened within weeks of another young lad (friend of a friend) being killed in a car crash.
Horrible thing to happen. Chin up hun, and live for your life.

It was all made worse as Western Mill Crematorium only allow half an hour between services which means you only actually get a 20 min ceremony.
Bob, Robert's father lost his wife in 93 so he has buried the only two members of his close family yet he chose to direct the whole thing himself with the help of a few choice words from some of us including Rob's fiance.
No justice.

I am only 19 now but have seen one friend die very quickly and shockingly of a brain disease and another only just survive a huge car crash. He came round on the last day before the life support machine was due to be switched off.
It just makes you think how precious life is and how much you have to keep enjoying it every day.

I remember reading in the paper when I was around 20 (5 years ago) reading about a girl I used to speak to sometimes at school had been killed in a car accident.
Hit a lamppost or something near London at very low speed and killed her and her mate.
She was one of the nice girls as well. Terrible waste.
