driving licence expiry

does the paper driving licence have an expiry date?!!

just gone to book a hire car and theyve asked for an expiry date and that bit of my paper licence is missing but i have a scan of it where theres a date 03/05/1999 but cant make out if it says expiry date?!

never knew they had one does this mean i've been driving illegally for 6 years????

expiry should be your 70th birthday , on the back of the plastic , look at the "from" and "to" dates for each category.

Doh! should still be 70th birthday though

I've got a paper licence, it's got an issue date and valid until dates for the categories of vehicle I can drive. Can't see an expiry date for the actual licence though.

UK driving licences expire on your 70th birthday as said above. Further to that they then expire at a three yearly period.

this post made me check mine. my card says that it is valid till the day after my 27th birthday!
someone must have been lying to me (either my parents or teh dvla) cos i thought it was meant to expire when you hit 70.
so either there is a fault with my card or i have had amnesia for 50 years of my life!

Paper licences expire at 70, the new photo card style licence needs to be renewed every 10 years as I doubt many people will be recognisable from a 30 year old photo

aaah must be an issue date but dont see how as the issue date is 03051999 but i have point on from before and after that???

ring the dvla and u get a sorry we're busy message before the phone goes dead ffs they can afford some phone lines with the amount of fines they fffing get

My photo licence definetly expires on my 70th (27 years to go )

Actually I just updated my address , and supplying a new photo was just an option at my discretion.

I think the classes of vehicles on the back of mine (including provisional m/cycle, etc) are valid until my 70th birthday, but the licence itself is valid until my 27th.

check the dates on the front between items 4a and 4b, licence lasts for exactly 10 years.
