Transferring data/synchronising Nokia mobile phone
Discussion
We all know that PH is the best reference source around so here I am with another question!
I've got a Nokia 6310 phone which I'm just replacing with a Nokia 6230i. I want to get the data off of the 6310 (contacts and text messages) and synchronise them onto my PC, laptop or Ipaq so that I can edit them and keep a back up.
I've got the Nokia 6230i suite of software which apparently is backwards compatable to the 6310, I wanted to try to instal this software onto the Ipaq so that I could transfer the data using bluetooth.
The software doesn't want to instal on the Ipaq and I get a connectivity error on the PC - presumably because it doesn't have bluetooth.
Has anyone got any experience of transferring data - I know Orange have this memory mate function but I'd like to find a way of getting the info synchronised with. I think that there is a UBS cable available - might this be the answer?
Any thoughts and advice greatfully received

Can you just bluetooth your contacts from one phone to the other?
you can only do that one at a time, a real PITA.
I would suggest only trying bluetooth again if your patience is strong! A data cable is a more reliable connection. I have managed to get nokia suite to work with a bluetooth connection and a 6230, but it quite often fails. god knows why... If you do manage it, it's quick and simple to back up the whole phone.
You will find lots of cables on Expansys
There's also forums with plenty of useful information
