Hi All,

I have my summer ball on the 11th June and need some inspiration as to what to go as!

As with my previous summer balls there is no theme!

Previous years have seen me dress up as Steve Irwin and the Mad Hatter.

The only ideas my friend and I can come up with are:

Golfers. (socks in trousers, pringle jumper, flat cap)

or.

Mechanics.

VERY BORING! Although easy to do!

My housemates have done Policemen, convicts, cowboys in previous years and i can't be a clown again as that my housemate Lucy something chronic lol.

So i'm asking PH for some inspiration and in return I will post the photos up for me looking like a right idiot for you all to laugh at!

Thanks,

Phill

PS - Being a student means cost plays a part in deciding the final costume!!!! lol

Toilet-Papered mummy? (not very practical for loo calls) Showerman? (i.e. Shower cap, towel and flip flops?) Old Aunt Bessie (Salvation Army clothes shops are wonderful for this one)?

I went as a surgeon once, green dyed sheet cut up and sewed into gown, mask and hat. Easy.

lol. Chav might be a laugh!

What can be done in pairs? As i'm dragging my mate down for the weekend we thought it would be a laugh to go dressed in similar (bad) fashion.

The only pairs that I can think of off the top of my head (that would be easy to recognise!) are as follows:

Chuckle Brothers!
Laurel & Hardy (not the most ideal attire for spending an evening an a big field!)

Bonnie and Clyde?

plastic guns, nice hats
and, all from charity shops (got my Bonnie at a charity shop for a complete total of 5pounds, even though I intended to dress up as Eva Perón, but everyone thought I was bonnie without clyde)

Blond curly hair would suit you

One of the most inspirational fancy dress ideas I saw was many years ago. A friend of mine went to a charity/junk shop and bought an old medium sized suitcase. Using the belt from his trousers fastened in it's usual place as a template, he then cut a hole in the top and bottom of the case.

He then stepped into the hole he'd cut and pulled the suitcase up around his waist. A pair of old braces fastened to the outside of the suitcase enabled him to keep it in place suspended around his waist.

Hey Presto - Man in a Suitcase!!!

This was a successful 60's TV series about which you can find more Here

Get (preferably) 4 of you and you can go as hobits - cheap to do (out of charity shops) and felt pen does for hair on your feet!

Tried this one once for Halloween.

Me in a over-large white shirt worn back to front with the sleeves tied behind - two mates in lab coats with those light reflecting thingies on their heads (carboard covered in foil).

Obviously I dont need a straightjacket to look like a loony, but I was in 'character'

this was a competition down my local pub - the genius landlord had me/mates second behind a caveman. WTF?.)
