Odd 2 pound coin question

So it's a slow afternoon here and conversation has got round to money, specifically the physical aspect of it, writing on the notes, etc.

I wondered then, if it weren't illegal/naughty/a waste of money, could you punch the inner silver bit out of a £2 coin?
