Advice Required: Headphones
Discussion
One for the hi-fi oriented PHers...
I'm looking for a decent set of headphones to use for the times it gets so late the neighbours will complain etc.
I want to move away from cheap in-ear 'phones, both for better quality and also because they can't be good for my ears
And recommendations? Been looking at Sennheiser HD25 and HD25SP.

Grado.
More money but worth every penny.
Any model - they are all superb.
Can't rave enough about Grado's. They're comfortable for long periods of listening, they sound great IMO (especially for small group stuff -- lots of separation) and they aren't too badly priced.
They do however, leak a lot of sound so not advisable if your other half wants total quiet.

I had a pair of the dynamic variety, they are excellent and not at all tiring (they sit on your head, not your ears).
Bit awkward if you have a high-backed chair though.
In all seriousness though, I recommend against headphones since prolonged use can result in long term hearing damage.

Senn HD590. Open-backed. Perfectly capable without an amp, divine with. They're so good I have two pairs.
Also they feature a detachable cord. I first thought this was a gimmick feature, but based on the number of times I've accidentally stepped on the cable or something and had it detached (where as on a conventional set of headphones where the cord is permanently fixed the cable would've have just snapped broken right by the headphone), I now realise this is a godsend and a "why don't they all do that" thing.
