ing want to! We didn't all buy soft tops because they are soft tops. I got mine because it's got good handling, reliable and cheap.

Actually I do see your point. Both soft tops I've had experience with (Boxster S & MR2 Mk3) do not leave the driver particularly exposed. In fact the MR2 is incredibly protective - it also has an awesome little wind deflector that looks great and is amazingly effective. It's heater is also hardcore - can drive in the depths of winter and still stay cosy.
The Boxster is pretty darn good too - I only start feeling the brunt at high speeds late at night.
Perhaps I have just been lucky with my choices - I suspect if I were feeling particularly delicate in a less protective car in the morning, then I may resort to a gentle, roof-up saunter into work instead.

At 6am, it was actually quite cold... and the prospect of hoofing down the A12 didn't really warrant roof down IMHO.

... and that's coming from someone with a Boxster and a wind deflector...
Definately having the lid down today, even if it's a little cloudy. Day off to await a repairman (any time between 8am and 6pm, luv)

i think alot of boxster, MR2 and TT drivers are a little embarrassed to be seen with the roof down on the daily commute. Afterall, being laughed and pointed at by children mouthing the word "ladyboy" through the window of a landrover discovery is no way to start the day.
I'm roofless virtually all the time... even in the wet

Hmm...I'm pondering an S2000 for my next car - will this elicit similar abuse?
I won't even mention the car I really really want
I often had the roof up on the Elise in the mornings as it was a pain to spend 15 minutes with the Meccano kit getting the thing off, zoom to work, then have to reassemble the thing.
Same on wee day trips - my GF would get impatient standing around while I was still messing around with the soldering iron in Chichester High St.
