Hello from St. Petersburg

Hi, I'm here at a nice resort in St. Pete, I'll post more details later but it's nice. Suitcase is still in Moscow, but should get it today or tomorrow.

This is a working trip but we are taking a break for now., and I can claim I'm testing the internet connection by coming here to PH...

St Petersburg is beautiful.

Make sure you visit the Hermitage museum and The Church on Spilled Blood.

Excellent, I'd like to go back in the summer one time - I've only been in February and once in March. Ditto AlexKPs comments - go to the hermitage, it's great. If you're short on time you can probablyu skip most stuff but make sure you see the 20th century French impressionists and all of the state rooms, and the living quarters of the Tsars too.

There is also that food shop on nevsky prospekt that is worth a look into - its very grand... Somewhere around halfway along near the Church on Spilt Blood. I had fun just wondering around, really... there is the dostoyevsky sort of area you could go to too... that is quite interesting (and quite run down).

Sorry for yestedays' lame post, but had to get to work, so couldn't say much. The local beer is very good, one major brand is Baltica, it comes in several models or numbers, the most common is #7 which is a light lager, they also make a porter and a malt liquor but I forget which numbers they are...gotta get re-aquainted!

There are really a lot of beautiful birds here, but most of them are married and me too, so,..any of you guys who fancies them would need to learn Russian, at least to the "gets by" level, or you will be restricted to the few of them that can get by in English...But yeah, a lot of them could pass for Sharipova or whoever.

We went for a walk on the beach at 11.30 last night, still light enough to see well, you would probably use your headlights to be seen but wouldn't need them to see to drive.

We will be going to the Church on Blood and Hermitage for sure, probably more.

The hotel is nice, it's called Skandinavia and is in a suburb town called Sestroretsk. For an idea on prices yesterday's meal expense per person was about $50 for all day, lunch, dinner, and 2 coffee breaks, so it's reasonable.

Number 9 is similar to a German wheat beer. Number 3 is an excellent lager and by far the most common one from memory. Great beers and now owne by Scottish Courage, who bought the brewery, which is in St Pete.
