Spitfire over my house now...

Good to see and hear a spitfire (not triumph :yikes:) doing barrel rolls over my house right now.

Fair do's to the pilot he or she is really giving it some beans...what a glorious noise.

No, single by the look of it, I think it is based at Filton airport, nr Bristol. Can't see the markings on it.

we get the Duxford lot over cambridge, very impressive mock dogfights look brill on a sunny summers day.

Fabulous! I'd give anything for a flight in a Spitfire. Reminds me, I visited Brooklands museum in Weybridge last week. Absolutely fantastic! I'm sure all PHers would enjoy it. Fabulous motor racing stuff and some incredible aviation things too.

I was looking at the Wellington bomber they have, which is the one they recovered from Loch Ness in the eighties. Got speak to the old chap who was working there. He was 80 years old, and flew Spitfires in WW2. He volunteers to guide people through the displays. It was an absolute privilege to talk to him.

NB - they've also got a Concorde there. It was BAs old spares mule. Stopped flying in early 80s I think, and it is currently being re-constructed to become a proper exhibit.

One flew straight over my house the other week. I was staring out of the window and heard the amazing noise, then when I looked it was heading straight towards me, like a higher version of the famous flyby. It just makes you feel all warm inside seeing and hearing one

The Concorde at Brooklands is G-BBDG which was pre-production model and never was intended for airline service. In 1974/75 it did a world tour and was painted up in the colour scheme of the (then) very new British Airways. As far as I know it is the only aircraft still in existence which still carries the BA paint as originally applied when the airline was first formed. Note that I used the word "paint" rather than paint scheme.

I'm pretty sure it's Rolls' PRXIX that's batting around alot at the moment. My wife told me the fishmonger said it has some gremlin they're trying iron out (he's a plane-nut who also delivers to someone who works on it, or something).

Does sound great though.
