The french engineers were very impressive I thought The blade off test was pretty impressive, watching an engine like that eat itself at full throttle.

It took Boeing ten years to break even on the 747. And they had less than 130 orders at the time of the first flight. In fact, they comitted themselves to the programme after an initial order of 30 from Pan Am.

The C4 programme was good although I would have liked a bit more on the historical context of the plane - the fact that there have been double deckers before, for instance, or the impact new large aircraft have on the industry. All the same, I enjoyed it.

Leahy was a very cool & collected man though, when he had 'MR Quantas' aboard that mock-up of the aircraft, he was able to wait and not oversell the goods, despite Dixon's (?) obvious initial reluctance, at overall design.

Happily though, it was the Austrailian's poker face which failed first, when he quietly said he loved the plane
