Companies, money and subscriptions

A very general post here: Someone mentioned that ebay was started by a few guys privately. Admitedly I know nothing about their beginnings. Any idea what its worth today, how big the company is, how much money they make and what its worth.

Same question re: paypal and Symantec. I always buy the boxed retail version of Norton Security, I wonder how many subscribers they have, and how many millions they must make yearly as their customer base just grows and grows... and grows!
