page 5 of the Times has a story about a pitbull terrier which must be put down becasue the owner did not fit a muzzle to the dog. the dog has not bitten anyone and the owner feels the punishement is unfair as she made the mistake not the dog which has been chipped and neuuered to compy with the dangerous dogs act.
the dog is called tyson.
does anyone else think that if the dog were not called tyson it would not be on death row?

Oh, yes please. Gets my vote. People are more responsable for their actions. Some of these dogs are just programmed by stupid humans.

all sounds a bit minority report to me.
without being an expert on said law, i can only presume it is a condition that pitbulls must wear a muzzle.
incidentally, i read an editorial in a local paper which was asking two asbos be placed on twins recently born in the area. the main story in the paper was the fact that the twins were born in teh car on the way to hospital, the editorial highlighted the fact that given the children were called "Porscha" and Tee-Jay", they should give them an ASBO now and save teh future hassle. It certainly made me smile!
The condition that they if they don't wear a muzzle they must die sounds more than a bit harsh to me. I agree, fine the owner, make sure she doesn't do it again and give it plenty of publicity so that all other owners of these dogs realise. Just don't kill the dog, it's not his fault.

It is if you drive, you have the potential to kill someone if you drive above a set speed limit apparently so you are fined if caught. When you are caught you then have to prove your innocence

this bloke looks like a dangerous dog to me, and he's not muzzled....
just skiming the same article, and apparently the act allows for a destruction order to be made if the owner breaks the act.
the owner allowed her dog in public on three seperate occasions without a muzzle which IS in contravention of the act.
IIRC the mags' tried to save the dog, but the police said the mag's were unable to do this.

I find him amausing, probably addicted to drain cleaner and riddled with hepatitus, he is in a living hell. I would like to smack him in the gob with a length of two by four for some reason though
