No joke...the bushes on the motor are gone, can you replace them these days or is it a new motor?

Dysons? PAH!! A triumph of marketing and hype over design, IMHO. I have a £70 Electrolux that performs waaaay better than my £200+ Dyson - which has been relegated to the garage for cleaning out cars. Plus it doesn't have designed-in weaknesses which are meant to break to make you buy another one (or so it seems).

Best vacuum I've used is the Sebo (German of course) - but no bagless system - but a great cleaner!

My 15-year old Panasonic still works OK. I wouldn't buy a Dyson because IMHO they look like Fisher-Price activity centres. And all your dust and crud is proudly on display!

Anyway, someone else does cyclone type cleaners now

They must have made a mistake when they made ours then, we've had it for donkeys years and it works just fine. Emptying the damn thing is a right pain though and so messy, will return to a bag when it does pack up.

Unfortunatly I don't have a solution, but a curiosity. Did you carry all those parts out onto your road to take the photograph? Either that or thats very hard wearing carpet.

I agree overpriced plastic tat, still he did invent the cyclone as we all know ()

Nah not really, he was first to scale down and market the things though.

Been using cyclone's in commercial dust extraction systems for donkey's years.

On the rare occasions I`ve beened "forced" to a boot sale, there have always been "armies" of these things for sale - says it all really!

Dysons are TERRIBLE ! A triumph of marketing over product/design integrity.

We've had two and neither have lasted longer than a year.

My wife (who knows of these things!) says "go buy a Henry! It's cheaper, actually works better than the Dyson, and will last nearly forever!"

No that's my drive it was a sunny day so....why not take your dyson apart in the sun!!!

Dangerous things these Dysons, they not banned yet.

This guy sued after he said his Dyson hose extension attacked him knocking him down the stairs.

They admitted liability and settled for £ 50,000

Not a bad day's earner.

Lots of companies do, mine is made by Hoover, cost about £120. Freind of mine sells these and Dyson's and says the Dyson is overpriced and the Hoover will do the same job if not better.

Im assuming she means Dysons products liabilty insurers, who I have had dealing with in the past on a professional basis. It was those muppets that would have paid out not Dyson, however they would have adjusted their renewal premium accordingly
