What are the ages that affect your insurance premiums...?

I was told 25 and 30.

And seeing as I am 30 in September, I am hoping that the insurance will drop a bit more..?

Do I have to change companies for it to reduce in Sept..? or will they automatically reduce the premium..?

I am with Direct Line.

TIA

When you are less than 25 you are told 25 when you are more than 25 you are told 30.

When you get to 30 it hasnt bloody changed at all.

Its all a scam.

What plotloss said.

You have to go back in time to the 1950's. Otherwise, you're stuffed.

Well, mine went down a good few hundred quid this year when I turned 25. I was paying £1000+ in the first place though with a silly excess.

You will be very lucky if they automatically give you a competitive renal offer.

Direct Line was the cheapest by far.

NU wanted over 5k and tesco 3k.

Mannings wouldnt touch it as at the time the car was parked on the street.

Sunninghill wouldnt touch me as I had not done over 5k miles in the previous 2 years in a TVR even though I have driven pretty much all of the TVRs.

That leaves.....

If anyone has any other insurance companies that are competative. Please let me know.

I too turn 30 in September,

here is how our company loads their premiums

Age 17 years 500% load, then it starts to come down until the age of 52 when it is 0% load, then it starts going up again.

What the data is inbetween i'm not sure I don't work on the insurance side. You shoud see a decrease in your Insurance prem, but it will not be a "wow look how much that came down by" type of thing.

Staying with the same company (NU), this year my insurance was nearly halved. I guess there's no fast rules about it all and also depends on NCB etc

Inflation strangely keeps pace with age discounts, so your insurance never get cheaper (that's what I've found anyway...)

Being married seems to help lower premiums though.

I dont plan on getting married so that stuffs that idea unfortunatley.

Lets see what happens in September, when I go to Oz next near, I am still debating wheather to take her with me anyways or sell her.

That does seem odd - why would the fact that a person is in a stable/long term relationship make a difference? If you're going to crash, you'll crash regardless of marital status?

I'm not complaining though - I'm getting married next year, so this is a welcome bit of news!

I know, seemed strange to me too, however I was told that having a wife as a calming influence in the car helps lower your risk - no word of a lie.

I don't care how they work it out, it saves me money.

Try it with one of the online places - putting my wife who is the same age as me on my insurance actually lowered my premium, and she is the only one who has ever been involved in any claims!!! - go figure...

Gaffer, Peart were cheapest for me by quite a long way - 30 and no history of performance cars (Volvos don't count apparently!) & class I business use. I've also heard that Tescos are competitive for some.

Tesco == Direct Line == Privilege. They all use the same system and give identical quotes - to the extent that a previous quote from Direct Line will turn up when you ring Privilege

Try MSM for the TVR.
I'm of a similar vintage and the renewal quote was very good.
