Looking back, I think I was severely bullied at school. However, loads of other kids were also being beaten up at my school, so I just assumed it was totally normal. Certainly, if I were to discover that my kids were being bullied to the same extent, then I’d be at their school demanding expulsions.

Strangely, though, being bullied didn’t seem to have too much of a negative effect on me. I assume that this is because loads of us were bullied, so I didn’t feel different. If anything, it possibly spurred me on to “out do” my tormentors in the outside world. Strange really, on Friendsreunited I told a couple of the bullies what I thought of them and they couldn’t apologise enough! They seem like really nice people.

Yes, I was bullied at school. Absolutely hated school with a passion, mainly for that reason. Bullied mainly on appearances or perceived inperfections. Nice.
Like you say though, strangely enough, I don't have a chip on my shoulder about it and don't feel particularly upset about it looking back. Just one of those things and if it hadn't have happened I probably wouldn't be the person I am now.

Do wish I'd stuck up for myself a bit though!! Pathetic really.

They were all such muppets too!!

Hell yes! Got pushed around by an older girl when I was in juniors but it got quite bad at high school, to the point where I refused to go in.

Ah well, I think it has made me more warey of people and I certainly used to be a lot less trusting than I am now but pi$$ on the lot of them!! Plus they're all Chavs now!

Never bullied thankfully.

Just ignored a bit because I used to be really shy. People didn't hate me - just forgot I existed occasionally!

Are you me, but with breasts?

Rather than go and complain to the school, which is what would happen these days, my father taught me a number of unarmed combat techniques from his jungle warfare courses. Did the trick.

Yes I was.

I was overweight, unpopular and didnt like sports.

Those things got me picked on. Out of frustration I picked on a few people myself.

In the long run I now have a good job at 25, i am not (that much ) overweight anymore and I am learning karate.

I have become very independant and I think it was, although not enjoyable, a good part of being introduced into real life.

You get bullied in all walks of life in varying ways. If you dont learn to stand up or deal with the problems early in life then you stand not much hope later on.

Stand up for yourself first and use the laws / statutes when absolutly needed. Thats the way I work and it has served me well.

One of the people that used to call me a stupid ct now works in Burger King

I agree gh0st, definately does teach you at an early age that the world will sh*t on you if you don't get in there 1st!

I don't stand and let people push me around anymore so has made me more assertive and independent that way. But one of the main things I've learnt from it all is to live and let live (unless they're real s and then you hire a hit man!)

at one particular school I went to for a short while (a school year) before moving elsewhere in the country I was certainly threatened and frequent attempts at intimidation were made, I also got into a lot of fights but mostly they fought in gangs of 8 or 10 so usually running away was the best policy.

It hasn't affected I don't think, although it did at the time. I took great pleasure in turning up to Kwik Fit in my Ginetta to buy a tyre and finding that the monkey changing the wheel was one of the aforementioned 'bullies'

"nice to see you've done well for yourself mate" I said as I paid and left

these people were always timd/friendly when on their own though losers.

Yeah, they do say that bullies do it mainly through peer pressure but also to cover for their own inequalities.

doesnt always work like that. At one of my schools a little kid used to pick on bigger kids if anyone had a go back then all the little kids mates would give the big guy a good kicking.

Bullying is never fair usually the bully is a bigger person or greater numbers.

I was picked on by a couple of people in juniour and secondary school, I snapped one day in a physics lesson and had one guy by the throat. several years of anger came out in one go .. lol .. seems funny now but I was shaking like a leaf afterwards.

I used to have a dreadful stammer at school and was naturally shy anyway .. school was pretty shit all in all i think.

If I had kids I'd be teaching them boxing / defence lessons for sure, I'd have no hesitation in teaching my kids that if someone is getting on your tits big style then giving them a thump is ok (last resort obviously).

I had to travel to school (8 miles) on an ancient double decker bus for 2 years from 11-13. Also as a 1st and 2nd year I had to wear shorts and a cap. Needless to say all the first years got bullied, but it was "normal", it was accepted that the older boys would steal your cap etc.

Once I got to the 3rd year they changed the rules and 1st/2nd years didn't have the caps or shorts so I never got to reek my revenge

Never considered this as bullying as it was not physically violent.

Yes, but not often enough to get paranoid about it. There's always some group that you're on the outside of.

Strangely enough my sister tells me I used to bully her. Not regularly or severely, but she describes it as bullying. I always thought of it as playing. Sometimes as a kid you just don't realise how other people are feeling.

One bit of psychological bulling at school was definately to my advantage though. The 'cool guys' found out I fancied a girl in the year above and decided to embarass me. One day she turned up with all of them in tow and asked if I wanted to kiss her (lots of sniggering from my tormentors). I admitted it, so she demanded I kiss her (more sniggering). So I kissed her. I got lots of fairly rude and nasty digs from them after, but hey, I got the kiss

I was never bullied at school but being small for my age was a disadvantage. However my Dad made my brother and I go to Judo, on a Saturday morning, which at the time seemed a bit of a bind. Except when one of my mates decided to pick on my during a football match (he was about 6ft and I was 5 ft 3) and it ended up with my having him in a judo hold on the floor and forcing him to concede Gives you loads of confidence that. I have never really had fight since either, I always think it takes a bigger man to walk away....
