Autoroute USA?

Does anybody know what the best piece of software is for mapping the whole of the usa to street level?

I have Autoroute which covers most of europe but is sparse on detail for the USA.

Can't advise about software to intall on your PC but two very good online map and routing services are

and

www.maporama.com

where the maps are better but the routing is more reliable on mappoint.

Had good reports of www.mapquest.com but never used it much after once had problems with a route, but the maps are very clear.

has to be software, suprising i think garmin are the only people who have attempted it in the USA

The US version of Autoroute is called "Streets and Trips". You'll probably have to order it from the States though.

I have done several trips throughout the USA using routes designed and printed from www.randmcnally.com
it even allows you to note what you want to see in each stopoff point.
highly recommended

Not sure what that quote meant, but why don't you just purchase it in the States; it will be available at any electronics store off the shelf.

In 2000 we drove from a house in the middle of nowhere in Alabama to a house in the middle of nowhere in West Virginia. We used www.mapquest.com and their directions were excellent.

On a day to day basis I use Mapquest.com or go to yahoo.com, then to maps and run their version.

Both are excellent.

It also helps to print the same map with different levels of zoom at the finish so you know precisely where you are supposed to head to.

Streets and trips is really good. I last used it in 2002 and even then it could be updated online to include info on the latest roadworks. It seems almost impossible to buy a copy online and get it shipped here though. If any one has any links to an online shop that will ship it to England can they let me know.
