I would like to give blood, to my lasting chagrin I just can't bring myself to go through with it 
I have a morbid and abiding hatred of needles
I plan to go into nottingham later on and see if I can do it. god what a freakin' pussy I am when there are people out there who need people like me to get our acts together
I was thinking about some dutch courage but they probably wouldn't want any jim beam in the supplies

It's not that bad matey, I had never given blood before an ex mithered me into it. The way I see it, I would expect to have some if I needed it so it's only fair. You even get a free biccy!

Good idea to donate if you can... if something bigger kicks off later it will come in useful.

I do wish the blood service would get into the 21st Century with regards to the risks of unprotected sex.
I still see they activly tell gay men to sod off, but the 19 year old teenager who's shot up on class A drugs and shagged 200 women, 5 prostitues and a sheep is welcomed with open arms.
Until they sort out what the real risks are, we will unfortunatly have cases happening every decade where a set of unfortunate recipents get infected.
However, saying that, I would encourage everyone that does pass their tests to donate.
I would if only they didn't class a person who has been in a monogomous same sex relationship for the last 12 years (who therefore by definiton would have developed AIDS by that time) as an 'unacceptable risk to the recipient)

Maybe they're scared that the blood make make people catch "Gay"
It's been long known that AIDS and HIV are becoming more and more prevalent in straight people too. They should either just let everyone freely give blood disreguarding sexuality (imagine the huge influx of blood donations!) and maybe even bring in a better screening programme.
