Even though this has not directly effected me, its great to see the calm informative response from the UK people, and the helpful manner to which the PH posters have made effort to ease this situation.
Lets just try to leave ‘foreigners’ stereotyping to the ‘less educated’ as the culprits could have been anyone.
Makes me proud that there is still human life worth fighting for
Lets not get let shock/futile tactics ruin our routine.
My thoughts are with the families of the effected.

Yes, I agree 100%, I have thought to myself all day about how well the people affected have taken this.
I am also very pleased that this cowardly attack did not have the panic effect on people and services that the scum were obviously hoping for. If Hitler couldn't beat us and our spirit, some lunatic fringe of muslim extremism won't even make a dent!
If anything, today is indeed a proud day to be British.

Damn right, the way the threads split into us spouting half informed bollox without falling out too much and the others offering support and info only was spot on. Also concur the emergency services proved the training was worth it
If nothing else it proves that although we may whinge, b1tch and moan at each other and life in general to a truly international standard, when the chips are down, the Great Brit* is still there and ready to rise to the top.

Totally agree, I was directly involved all day (would have been on the Kings X train if a couple of minutes later) I'm a Project Manager for London Underground and would like to express my thanks to all the emergency services and pistonheads (cause that was the only way I could contact my family).

Agreed - of course I can only imagine how those caught up in the middle of this, or now missing loved ones must feel.
But at the same time, there can only be praise for the emergency teams, the injured, the police, the news teams and everyone in London who delt with the attack so calmly and with such dignity. If the attackers were expecting hysteria, panic and chaos, they didn't get it.
That's what a democratic, inclusive, multi-racial, educated and public spirited society can do.
(Thanks also to those on PH who reported from the front line. My sister couldn't contact anyone for a while, so knowing what was going on was vital).

But, I would also like to add to the praise of the emergency services. In my previous job I assisted in the development of the crisis plans for some of the national infrastructure / emergency services. Ok, it was in a peripheral role, but I had a good understanding on how it is supposed to work.
What I can say though is that the professionalism of those involved that amazes me. The plan worked like clockwork. It helped and assisted in saving lives and helping others to safety. All of the training worked.
However, my heartfelt sympathies go out to all those affected, involved and for the families of those killed.
P.S. Anyone know if there is any way in which I can offer assistance or help? I would love to help in some way, even in a small way..... anyone know?

I am sure other's who were directly affected would agree but the thought of being stuck at work was horrible, made even worse by the fact my wife was stuck at a totally different part of London. It would have been IMPOSSIBLE to get to her should anything have happened. I, in the end, managed to get home at normal time. I was simply stunned by the skill and efficiency of the emergency services... but also my train company too - WAGN. I have NEVER had a good word to say about them in the past but today they simply excelled.
It's a shame their passengers didn't do the same. People still pushed and shoved and snipped for seats etc. One big bloke nearly felled a heavily pregnant woman as he charged for a seat. Carried on running as if nothing had happened. Had I been closer I would have given him a serious b
king. I sat there in disbelief - almost all of us on that train were minutes/split decisions/a change of fortune away from being a statistic - yet selfishness reigned. More than ever I despise the rat race commuter (of which I am one, admittedly, but today has taught me that it REALLY just ain't worth it. Always was fairly sure - now I KNOW!). Another nod to all the offers and wishes from everone on here.
