I may be way out of line here, but anyway...
On the way home this morning, I was driving along the A4 to join the M4 J2 (Chiswick) and I saw 2 policemen changing the camera film in a gatso. Now, I realise that traffic cops are a different division, but in light of yesterdays events I found myself thinking "For f*cks sake, surely they must have something better to do"
I generally respect our coppers, and I realise that the 2 that where attending to the gatso where only doing what they have been told to do, but I feel that priorities in London right now should maybe be aimed at more serious matters. Especially being that there's absolutely no hope of anyone travelling at more that 10mph around London today!
Am I out of line here, or does anyone agree??
Wish I'd have had a camera to hand, sure I could've flogged the piccie to some tabloid!!

Read the text of Ken Livingstone's speech.
He talks of this great city carrying on as normal, unswayed despite the efforts of terrorists.
These two bobbies are simply keeping up the best tradition of the British stiff upper lip. Courage in the face of adversity.
I commend them as a shining example of everything that makes Britain Great.
And anyone who suggests that such officers might be better deployed studying CCTV footage to try to identify the terrorists ought to be put in The Tower.
I can see your points, all valid and it's very comendable for London to "carry on as normal", "put on a brave face" etc etc.
But the fact is that yesterday there was a major terrorist attack and the threat of a second wave is looming over us all, you'd think they'd be utilising all the resources they have to hand. Even if it's just putting those 2 coppers on the tubes/buses patrolling, looking for suspisious items/people (edit: ) or at least making the general public feel a bit more at ease by showing their presence.
Like I said, I have huge respect for the London bobbies but it's just one of those things that gets you thinking.

kers that did that yesterday, that's just plain insulting. I AM carrying on as normal, driving and working round London, getting on with my daily stuff. As were those bobbies this morning, as is everyone else pretty much, despite the chaos on the roads and everyone wondering if it's going to happen again. All I'm saying is that surely just for a day or two, while London is at a crawl anyway, the forces could be used for something slightly more useful, even if it's just standing on a corner getting the bloody traffic moving at more than 1/2 mph.

Agree with you mate. Normal day everyone else would be criticising the scameras

Yes it is a bit
harsh. But our world is not full of soft fluffy bunnies and everything is not going to be alright. We have had a easy time of it since the IRA stopped bombing. We are at war with those that seek to destabilise us - but whining about coppers going about their dailies just shows that 'they' have won. Anything that takes away from your normal routine is another blow for terrorism. I'm not for letting them win.
And anyone spreading alarm is my enemy.
