Urgent help - night out on the company - suggest??

Just been told we are having a night out at company expense in Newcastle.

anybody got any ideas for me to suggest.

Current options are :

Karting
Paintball
Meal (yawn)
Golf.

I know what my choice is but if anyone else has any other intresting thoughts....

Obviously motoring related would be good (to keep me happy) but not essential.

I've been told paying for cash for 10 minute activities is out of the question.... unfortunately!:)

That way you know what you will be spending and won't get spanked for letting Diane from accounts run up £50 bar bill on her own.

There are some great walks / scenery if that's what you're after. If you're after a night on the lash, then the Quayside is the place to be, although I always found Bigg Market a bit rough - but then again, I was a toff student when I was there, so no wonder they tried to fill me in.

Basically, if you can't do it in the Toon, it doesn't exist, like. Have a great time. and a 'jack' is a fiver, like - if yer didnee knor.

If you have a dogtrack near you - try that. They are great fun and certainly different. I know at Wimbledon for instance you can get a meal & they have a licensed bar, so you are pretty much sorted for the evening.

All thats left is placing your bets on each of the races which gives the evening a pace and a certain energy.

You dont have to be a gambler to do this.

Our last do was:-

Laser shoot out so you all get hot and sweaty plus get the satisfaction of repeatedly zapping the boss/office arse.

THEN

All shoot off to the local swimming pool for a splash around, sauna, jacuzzi, cool off and relax. Plus you get to see the giggly receptionist with her kit off.

THEN

Some delightful sustenance of your choice from, cuzzer, chink, Thai, fusion, even mmmm pie and chips, all accompanied by varied refreshing beverages. We had Thai btw, vv spicy spicy hot thus need for lots of beer.

THEN

Grab a Granny night but main excuse after hours with more beer.

THEN

Taxi home, to bed, perchance to dream.

It is important to match it to:
- How many people you have in the office
- How sociable they are already.

When I worked in an office of about 40, all tight, we did a couple of things.

First, karaoke at a Chinese or Japanese restaurant. Much to my embarrassment, I quite enjoyed it. Partly because, as we had the floor to ourselves, you were only making a dick of yourself amongst friends. Secondly, a conniving secretary had pre-selected songs so that everyone had to perform at least once (and only found out what once they were on stage). Add vast quantities of beer, and it was quite impressive.

Alternatively, given the weather, find a fashionable bar, do a deal on the night that if you drink them out of Pimms before closing, you get it at half price. The record is three & a half hours.

Pitch and Piano is on the Quayside near the Millenium bridge & opposite the Baltic Mill. Regulary have live music.

The Head Of Steam opposite the train station & The Cluny (nearer Wallsend) do good drink & is a comfortable environment.

Karting North East do great karting sessions @ £50 a head (coporate version). A little out of town mind. they do off-roading and all sorts as well.

I shall through them to the vote and see what happenes..

I'm personally hoping it will entail a karting session follwed by drinking, followed by curry follwed by the boss getting out his company card at the local table dancing establishment... Obviously seing as I'm just married I shan't be taking part in certain activities as the "wife" would hate it.

Which is a shame really as I really fancied the drinking...

alnwick is 30 miles away, and the wall (ir at least where it's pretty to look at) is approx 25 miles away

it's worth a visit to the bigg market just to see the utter horrors that inhabit it

I'd keep to the quayside or osborne road in jesmond for although it's chavvy as hell they'll look the most civilised and therefore I assume the most familiar to you

the pitcher & piano on the quayside is quite nice and has a good view of an evening of the millenium 'eye' bridge and the sage centre but suffers from the usual novocastrian affliction of having pissed chavs bounding around everywhere

as for the head of steam, it's utterly fantastic! a superb venue for bands and all manner of moshing and generally being a student plus the beers on offer are many and varied and really rather good

...perhaps not really appropriate for an office night out though, especially if you have some oldies amongst you.

Christ that sounded boring compared to the other posts, but i still stick by the karting. I really need to get a life and stop worrying about money!

Did this at a place I was contracting for a few years back. Walthamstow dog track. Absolutely brilliant, free bar, buffet and gambling!

I have to admit its a very strange but fun evening.

The best bit is "we've won - WON WON YEEEHAR" "how much have you won?" "£3.80 woohoo!". Despite it being a pitiful amount you win - its not taking part that counts, its winning

We went to the Dogs in Birmingham last friday for my mates stag do. Cost £5 to get in but that was more than covered by the vouchers we got for free pie & chips and 2 drinks!

Great fun!

Went paintballing for the first time on Saturday (again on the stag weekend) absolutly brilliant fun!
