Police also revealed that a suspected al-Qaeda operative entered Britain via a channel port two weeks before the attack. Although his name was on a security watch list he was not put under surveillance, as he was not regarded as being of sufficiently high risk. He is believed to have left the country hours before the attacks.
So, an al qaeda suspect(killer) isnt of a high enough risk to warrant surveillence yet a guy boasting of beating the courts on a speeding rap IS.

Anyone see the problem here? Anyone understand their f:censored:ed up logic?

No wonder we're in such a state.

He was suspected of being an AQ operative, slightly different from being a known killer.

Now, with 20:20 hindsight, it looks like a monumental error by the security services.

As previously said, hindsight is a wonderful thing and so many things in history could have been re-written if we had "known" what would have occurred. I mean, would the USA have had such a lax policy on pilot training for Saudi nationals? Especially when they say things like "I dont need to land"..... But who could have predicted in advance what was to occur?

The same stands here. We have 10's if not 100's of people come and go from this country who have links to terrorist organisations who do nothing when they are here. But the security services have to prioritise and in this case they didnt do a full enough job.... and at last count this may have cost the lives of 50+ people. I am not defending anyone here, but in the absence of a direct and real threat, what can they do?

As I have said many times before, the security services have to strike a careful balance between prevention and watching. In many cases it is better to watch rather than stop - we can learn much more about how they operate, what they do and who they talk to.... rather than just preventing entry to the country for example. Ok in this case they did neither, but you get the idea. Also, they have to be very careful not to show "their hand" in these situations. Revealing too much information may jeapodise actions and prosecutions.... its happened before in WW2 for example....

Even if they had caught him, they probably wouldn't have been able to deport him since he would probably have claimed asylum.

All the AQ suspected terrorists in this forum - put your hands up now so we can count you. Hmmm, none.

Is it too much to ask that someone suspected of being an AQ member is refused entry to our country? "Sorry mate - we think you've done some naughty things - now bugger off".

They want to watch these people to work out who they contact. If they're busy they can either allow them through unwatched, or turn the suspect away and warn them that the security services are on to them. So the next time they enter the UK they'll come illegally and we won't even know they're here.

This is what gets the well-informed taxpayer mad, and generates the 'if he'd been speeding they'd have caught him', remark which I have to agree with.

So, criminals, just stay <30mph and we (the good guys) will take the flak for you, taking up so many resources in men and Gatsos that there's nothing left to keep an eye on you, dear bomber.

After listening to the all thing Muslim apologist station, oops, I mean BBC Radio 2, anyone who hadn't heard of the news from last Thursday would think that no westerners at all were killed in the blasts, just muslims! All I have heard all day on the radio is how this has affected the Muslims, and the families of both the bombers and the victims! Westerners don't even figure in the equation at all if the BBC is to be believed!!!

This country is rapidly disappearing up its BBC-inspired bleeding-heart @rse, the past week has seen so much lip-quivering over-sentimentality and PC gobbledegook that I want to vomit every time I happen to see the news. There is a time and place for grief, as there is a time and place for anger, and this country forgot about this when Diana died and has well and truly forgotten it now.

Meanwhile if anyone had told the Muslim community last Wednesday to sort out their backyard and reject all the extremists, the cries would have ranged form that stupid term "unhelpful", through "ignorant" to downright "racist" - it has taken 51+ deaths in London to prompt the Muslim community to realise that if they don't sort it out the British state will, with its customary inefficiency and stupidity.

As for letting this character in and then not watching him waltz back out again - poo happens - our police were too busy attending race awareness classes, dealing with the immense underclass in this country that is incapable of living in a civilised manner (the chavs, the criminals) or protecting our mostly worthless politicians who look after their own safety before all others' or simply struggling against the predatory legal community in this country just waiting for them to make mistakes.

So what is the point of police, if they dont do what we pay them to do? I can understand having CID for crimes even more serious crimes than motoring offences(is there such a thing)but considering the huge police precept on the rates they seem to have become an expensive liability.

I would guess terror suspects have little to do with the local police , but more home office and MI5 and the like. He's on a known list but someone let him in anyway. I don't think that choice was made by the police.

Yea i noticed that on a lot of the news channels, the 1st victim they always seem to mention is a muslim and they seemed to spend more time on the muslim victim(s) than the others,,, OK they are trying to defuse the situation but its very disrespectful to the other victims no matter what religion they belonged to.
