I presume you are talking about Association Football (Soccer).
The dimensions are quite flexible. These are the official maxs and mins -
Length - 90 metres to 120 metres
Width - 45 metres to 90 metres
Thats a big variation, surely League pitches are not allowed to vary that much?
Btw,thanks chaps.
Soccer is a worldwide sport played at all levels from school kids right up to the major professional leagues. The pitch dimensions are so variable to facilitate every eventuality - from South African kids playing on a patch of dirt outside Soweto to the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
Try Googling on the FA or English League website to see if they have slightly more contraints on the dimensions.

Those are the FIFA laws of the game, however there is also the rider that the length of the touchline must be greater than the length of the goal line.
Its also a Bl**dy long way as i found out this morning, its been 10 days now since i packed up the weed and ive been doing some training but i wanted to get back into jogging/running,,,,,,i was watching a programe on a group of guys being put thru their paces a couple of weeks back French Foriegn Legion style, they had to run 6Kms(around 20 laps of a footy pitch in my case) before breaky and were struggling,i thought they should do it easy!,they didnt but nor did i either, another crack tomorrow beckons.

Thought you were off the illegal substances
My advice would be not to try and run set distances but try and find a route that takes you say 10 minutes. Due that for a couple of weeks till you get it down to 8 minutes then add a bit on. And so on and so on.
It's impossible to know how far you run (accurately) unless you can clock the exact route in the car.
Don't get hung up on how far you can go, more important to run at a good pace, I'm down to just under 8 minute miles on a 5 mile stretch which is a fair lick.
Just as much benefit in running at a good pace for 30mins as there is plodding along for an hour.
God knows how Paula Radcliffe can do 5m miles for 26 of the buggers though! That's weird!

Sounds like a good way of getting into it,ile give that a try,my only reason for staying on soft ground around a soccer pitch is for my joints sake.
Thats cool, just see how many laps you can do in say 5 minutes and build up from there.
Once you get a bit of strength/stability back you should be set for running on the road just get a decent pair of running shoes, anything from Asics or New Balance will be good. Spend a few quid though, well worth it.
Og and another essential item is an MP3 player, Ipod shuffles are ideal for running due there size. Swear to god they make you go faster due to the hero effect of listening to some power rock on your way round
I started running a few years ago, first time I went I managed 5 minutes and nearly died. I can easily do 8-10 miles now, just take it steady and before you know it you'll be fit as a butchers dog.
Good luck.
