Ferry to Spain Advice Please

Tried through the normal channels to get a price for a return ferry crossing to Bilbao. P&O want £780 :yikes: return for a Motorhome. I will be going end of august and coming back end of October. Anyone know of a cheap operator or do I drive fron Calais - 1480 miles to Malaga and a game of golf with Martin - V6GTO. Thanks

Can't help you on the price - we paid something like that last year when we had a week in Spain courtesy of Portsmouth-Bilbao with P&O.

What I can strongly recommend is getting a decent cabin. Its worth the extra. Soooo worth the extra. Who wants to sleep on a chair when you could be in a decent double bed with the Mrs with your own shower and private sitting area...

I would have had the best cabins they do but they weren't available..I had to settle for "one down from top" - only £200 on top. When you consider you get the cabin for THREE nights that's not a bad price for the accomodation in comparison to hotel room prices at all...

But how much would Pompey - Le Havre or Dover - Calais be for the same vehicle ? Add the mileage and tolls for France and overnight costs and I bet its a bargain - sort of........

You might save some money if you know anybody who runs trucks and uses the ferries. Commercial rates are better than tourist rates and you can book any size vehicle, so you won't end up on a truckers special IYGMD

Bear in mind I will be in Europe for a few months in the sun while your working

The residuals on a motorhome are bloody good also.

agree with the brittany ferry route. Also the Bilbao route is classed as a mini cruise, so you can expect 36 hours of chav drunks.
