Portable MP3 player - In car use

Ok, heres one for ya.....

I've just bought a mini 1GB MP3 player and might be wishing to use it in the car on occation. It only has the standard headphone jack output so opinions/links required as to the best way of doing this.

Now I know that FM Modulators are technically illegal to use in the UK but loads of products seem to use them anyway.

Anybody got any clue as to which the best modulator (or other such legal appliance) would be? What sort of money etc.

Already had a look at the iTrip but its a bit big and not sure if it will fit the unit I have bought, I just need something with a standard headphone jack plug.....

Recently got one of these

Using it with an iPod shuffle but it'll connect to anything with a headphone jack.

It gives pretty much the same quality as FM radio, a very slight hiss in the background but not noticeable unless there's a quiet bit and you really listening.

Good for the price IMO.

Already seen the Belkin one. It looks ok but I have seen smaller around its just finding a website that sells them (very hard it seems).

We use a tape adaptor - of course that's only any good if your incar thingy has a tape player.

Ive tried this, but the quality is dreadful. I think it may be down to the fact that my MP3s are ripped to about 1.5mb each, and although they sound fine through mini headphones, the quality is not sufficient to listen to in-car, especially once it's passed through a tape adaptor.

My MP3's are all CD quality (Easy CD DA Extractor 8 - Great program) and I already have an CD MP3 headunit. this car use will be a "nice to have" rather than a "requirement".

Found a nice FM modulator thingy in Japan called an I-POP, but cant find it anywhere else.....

I got mine off e-bay they had quite a few different versions, cost less than £20 including postage. Only problem I've had is choosing a channel that doesn't have a conflicting FM broadcast station somewhere along a long journey.

They are illegal at the moment but I beleive steps are being taken to legalise them as long as they are below a certain power output.
