Aircraft from London Luton

Wonder if follow PH'ers could help me. What large passanger aircraft can take off fully laden for a long-haul flight from London Luton Airport?

Not too sure what your asking here (but then that might be me)however if you are asking what i think you are asking then yes ive done Australia from Luton before,did i make sense?

basically asking if you could use a 757/767/A310/A330/A340 etc. fully laden with fuel and passangers for long haul flights - to fly into and out of Luton - Is the runway long enough etc.

I think the plane i flew from Luton to Perth was a 757.

Without looking at the performance charts, and really just guessing, you will be looking at 757 at MTOW.

When I used to live in Luton, it was regularly used by the huge Antonov cargo planes, so I'd imagine runway-wise it is capable of handling pretty much anything. It certainly doesn't have the ground facilities (terminal-wise) for handling large passenger aircraft however. I think about the largest you'll see there at the moment is a 757, no widebodied planes.

Concorde also used to regularly visit when I was a kid.

The runway is too short for most aircraft, what did the guy above go to australia in? LOL. 737's only just stop before the end of the runway on a good day and any aircraft with a problem is sent to stanstead instead of luton.

Although if aircraft are empty almost anything can land including jumbos and concorde. How many times did the 757 stop on the way to perth?

It stopped twice, at UAE and Singapore,all i remember was it had 3 engines (something to do with Long haul have to have more than 2 engines).

Air Foyle operated Antonov An-124s out of Luton. There aren't many aircraft bigger than that (apart from the Antonov An-225).

It's probably an even bet as to what could scare you more...a trip in an Extra 300 or a trip in his Cerbera!
