We have got a credit card with one of the major high street banks who also handle our personal account and our mortgage.

We moved house nearly two years ago and they are still sending the credit card statements to our old address (which do get to us via my mum fortunately!). We have requested that they change this more times than I can remember...but still nothing.

Now recently married, I have written to them asking that they change the card to my married name.....and do the :censored: address at the same time!!

I have just had a call from my mum saying that my new card has arrived at the old address in my new name, but the PIN number is addressed to me in my maiden name......HELP how can I get them to understand?! :furious:

The answer to the topic title is simple.....
because its a BANK, it is in their interest for you to miss a credit card payment after all

Stop hijacking

Anyway, I forgot to add that we lived around the corner from my mum and the regular post "lady" knows that we have moved and delivers things to my mum for us, but when she is not around goodness knows where they go!

First direct/HSBC aren't amazing either - they have lost over £500 of my money and are farting about trying to find it rather than just giving it back to me, even though I have supplied evidence that I gave them the money! 3 weeks now they have had my cash!

Good idea...that might solve the aimless wandering around without asking for directions!

Personally, I wouldn't waste my time trying to get them to understand. Use your feet and move your credit card balance (if you have one) somewhere else, and then tell this high street bank you want to close your account due to their incompetence.

If they can't even get your address right after all this time, goodness only knows how they'll handle things if you were the victim of fraud or something.

Seriously....give them two fingers and take your business elsewhere. Just my 2p worth

When I had a change of address I asked my branch of HBOS whether change of address on credit card was handled by them or by contacting customer services on statement. They said contact the credit card customer services.
No problems.

Sod moving the balance - tell them the correct address one more time, then just ignore any further correspondence sent to the wrong address - and make sure you don't pay by direct debit. That should get their attention. Their inability to get your address right is their problem, not yours.

Tell them your address one last time and then advise then that you will fine them say £10 for every letter they address incorectly.

or you could close the existing account and set up a new one with the same bank but get the fine thing in the contract at that time

We have spoken to them today (again) and this was their solution, all cards now cancelled and new ones being re-issued! Thanks

Cousin was subject to identity theft from his old address, due to bank sending details to old address after being told to redirect the mail. They had even gone to the extent of drafting a letter so were lead to believe all was well. Upon discovering the problem they changed all account details and informed the police. The bank in their infinate wisdom then sent all the new details to the OLD address so the thieves could have another go. Time to start sticking it in the mattress again!
