"The Voice" newspaper

Not intending to start an eruption of sentiment, but I caught sight of this in a local newsagents and was quite surprised.
For those who don't know, it's a newspaper for and by black people.
My first thought was that publishing a newspaper to represent black people was kind of ludicrous - the very publication comes across to me as self-marginalisation. Also, would there be a backlash from black people of someone started doing a newspaper solely for White people?
But then again it occured to me that it can be quite a useful tool in unifying what is a minority within the country.
I'm not quite sure what to think now.
Do any of you have any thoughts on this publication? I just thought it was a bit odd when I first saw it.

Here in the US we have many such things. We have a Miss Black USA contest, even though black women enter, and frequently win, the regular Miss USA contest. I think it is reversed racism. Yes, if we had a "White anything" it would be pounced upon. People will say, "but that is because, as a minority, they need a bit extra to catch up". However, let there be a "Miss Hispanic USA", etc. and the Black community here will have a fit. Infringment on the once private domain of the "minority" here by other minorities is causing anger among some black groups. Hispanics have now passed Blacks as the largest minority in the US. I am not racist, just stating that there are "merchants of misery"(as my black friends call them) in the black community that try to perpetuate racial conflict as a means of holding personal power at the expense of those thay claim to represent.

Should we be unifying a minority, or unifying the whole country and creating a colourblind society.
This kind of thing always gets to me.
It brings to mind the father of Stephen Lawrence who (as most will remember) died in a 'racially motivated' murder. Stephen was studying architecture when he was killed. In his memory, Mr Lawrence Snr set up a charity in order to assist black architecture students through college. Not under-priviledged students you understand, but black students.
Surely total integration is the cure for racism?
