mum phone help!

Today she received a text from ">pers" and when she clicks open its comes up with "erased" yet it's still there and marked as unread.

I'm assuming it's some sort of phone virus but how can I get rid of it?! Can't press delete without opening it, yet opening it just brings up the "erased" symbol! :confused:

Someone at work got that today and had the same problem.

A few years ago I got a Unix bod really confused by giving him a file that contained the message "Permission denied". He spent ages trying different ways to open it before he twigged. Could this be the mobile equivalent?

I condisered that but it's not just the words "erased" its the little moving bin icon and the fact it always appears unread.

It will not be a virus. On mobiles they are rare and really only confined to the high end phones. Just open and delete the massage. Failing that turn it iff, remove the battery and then put it back in and switch on. It'll be fine.

IIRC texts from ">pers" are just config messages from the service provider - I got a couple after changing my voicemail settings. Switching the phone off and on again after you've deleted the text should clear the icon.

Yep, that's what they are. Nothing to worry about.
