House rental during Open Championship

Next year the Open Golf Championship is going to be held at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club near me.
I've heard figures of 2 or 3 grand to rent out your house to rich Yanks coming over for the golf.
Anyone ever done this? Any pitfalls?

A customer of mine is doing this at the moment for the Womens' Open at Birkdale.

She's put all the family stuff (documents, clothes etc) into one locked room and two nice Japanese guys have taken over the house while the family have gone to Florida.

Only problem came when they couldn't get onto the wireless internet connection so I ended up getting a panic stricken phone call to pop round - sorted in about 10 mins but have you ever tried working on a PC configured & displaying Kanji?

Don't know how much she's getting but seems quite painless, when she's back I'll see if she did it through an agency & any pitfalls.

Get on the phone to your local estate agents (or letting agents). Many of them will have lists for adding your name to as that is who prospective tenants will go to to find properties. These lists do fill up fast though so a quick call can't do any harm.

Friends do bed and breakfast for the British GP as they live in Whittlbury.


They basically de camp and move all their stuff in to garage and sleep in their study . They get two couples in at £50 per person per night.

They operate from Wednesday to Sunday and have had the same people in for past 3 years. They go to track during day and pub at night so no bother to them.

This happens here is Cheltenhamshire when the Gold Cup is run - good money, BUT I'm told that your clientele can sometimes seem different in the flesh than over the phone or in correspondence, that you need to get cash up front, and that the taxman looks at adverts and hassles agents for info.
