Time and Tiny...(wait for no man?)

Time and Tiny (which apparently are the same company) look like they're going under this morning.
Reported on NW News. All 78 retail shops shut and managing director saying "looks like its going tits up" (paraphrased).

Hope no one here has undelivered orders.

Bought a laptop from Time many years ago.

If everyone else's computer is as bad as the one I bought they deserve to go under, I am afraid to say

That's pretty much the long and the short of it.

The product was dire and the customer service poor.

The business model was to sell to the clueless on the high street.

They are indeed crap and I could personally make far superior machines - and have

I stopped dealing with Tiny a very long time ago, the first time they went bust, and they never got my business back when Time took them over.

Both companies utterly dreadful. The Mahindra & Tata of computing. Amazing they've kept going this long. A testament to the power of advertising.

Did some repair work for Time when I was first getting into the game about 12 years ago. They were shocking then and they never did improve.

They won't be missed. Anyone remember Escom?

I remember the name. Crappy high street pc retailer I believe? Never used MS-DOS on their machines but a cheapy PC-DOS?

I get a lot of my private business via Time and Tiny computers - people would rather pay me to fix / replace their machines than go through the warranty!!!

I bought an Escom machine in 1996. Served me resonably well until about 3.5 years ago.

Many years ago I had a tiny machine. After 1 year the only original component in it was the audio card. Everything else had died and been replaced.

Interesting. I know two people who bought one, and whilst they're not stupid (simply computer illiterate) they were about 50 and 70 years old. Both machines seemed to be full of useless and conflicting software which needed a local chappie to sort out.

yeah, but cmon, Commodore bought the coffin, rolled the corpse into the coffin, bought a plot of land to bury it, and was busy putting the first few nails in the lid long before Escom turned up.
