What's the cheapest way to convert a few thousand Sterling into Japanese Yen (or any foriegn currency)?

Bureau de change?

Traveller's cheques?

Or maybe a bank will give the best overall deal?

For big sums, over £10,000 I would recommend the bank as long as you ask for the "commercial rate".
