Historic Exchange Rates

Bit hazy on the details here but my father is trying to get the $/£ exchange rate from quite a few years ago. Something to do with Cable and Wireless and a recent court ruling in the US regarding a takeover a few years ago.

So does anyone know of an on-line resource for historic $/£ exchange rates ?
