The world has a fascination with americans. I get asked daily (que big smiles, massive interest) Ohhhh, where are you from??? America??? (cue more big smiles, as if I were a genie, granting wishes) If I had a german accent, the grins wouldnt be as big, awestruck and cheesy. After youve been asked several thousand times, the novelty wears off.
As a teenager, the scenario was amplified. Id just have to nod that i was from the north american continent to get sucked off by a girl Id met moments before. I grew to detest the worlds ignorant love of americans, which admitedly is more rife amongst the younger generation.
The other side of that coin is the older generation, who view them as being an insular 'uneducated of the world at large' people. A pretty accurate summary, for those that share the view. Americans are not very well educated regarding matters beyond their borders, certainly less so than any of the other great nations, of this there can be no debate!
Parrot is correct - as a former media producer you can pretty much make people come across however you want them with clever editing. In addition, the people in this sequence are undoubtedly the bottom couple of percent in terms of awareness and intelligence.
Although funny, and horrifying, this clip is pretty irresponsible media manipulation. Taken in isolation it does a good job of portraying the general US public as being scarily stupid. However, it would be very wrong and potentially dangerous to assume that the morons in this film are really representative.

I think this needs to be seen in its proper context:
It is from an Australian show called CNNNN, which is a clever satire that takes the piss out of TV news programs (like CNN). The point of it is to show (in an very funny way) how the media manipulates and sensationalises news stories.

That's NOT what was said on our news programmes jimbeaux during his 1st pre - election fest. Ok! so he took a holiday "abroad",....Gee whizz! He still knew nothing of the world, as do most US folks!

Jimbeaux Mate, many of your own countrymen would LOVE to have a system like ours but are suppresed, but THEY don't matter because they are POOR! mOST OF THEM AREN;T EVEN REGISTERED TO VOTE!
