Can't believe i'm doing this but it was "Right Here Waiting" by Richard Marx. The original is pretty bad but yes, the guy did murder it.

Richard Marx of Hazard fame,not a bad singer,i can think of a far worst singer around at that time,a guy called Jim Diamond,every song he whaled at the time was about some love gone wrong and his voice was a pile of :crap:.

Bombhead murdered the main man Marx's tune. Stars in their eyes was meant to be a sound alike competition wasn't it? I reckon the plan is to pick a tune no one has ever heard and kick the shit out of it!

Cat Deeley is a bit of a wonky head alright. Two faced I think you'd call it. LHS is nice, RHS isn't.

Didn't he also sing the theme tune to 'Boon' - I think it was 'Hi Ho Silver'? Always thought that was rather good......

Shame, he was never quite blessed with as much talent for a hit as his brother, Neil.

Still, he did end up making his fortune from an telephone dating company so it all worked out in the end, despite spending his later years in exile.

He was also lead singer in the group PHD, who had a few hits in the 1980's. Most memorable was probably "I Wont Let You Down". His solo hit "I should have Known Better" has the distinction of being knocked off number one by the original Band Aid recording of "Do They Know its Christmas"
