Umm...looks quite nasty from what i can see. Flames and lots of smoke from the central fuselage / wing areas and a few explosions clearly visible..


The runway is right next to a main highway which is currently jammed solid with people gawping at the burning plane. It's nice to see numptyism is international

Latest info from sky - 291 people on board, pilot and co-pilot have got out safely - lets hope the other 289 made it too.

According to witnesses the plane broke in half which would explain the Flight crew getting out. Hopefully anyone else in the front half will stand a fighting chance of geting out too.

Apparently the footage we are seeing is some two hours after the crash. You must have seen a clip from soon after it crashed I guess.

BBC news are quoting a Toronto Radio station as saying that Police have told them that "most" of the passengers got out before it exploded...

3 busloads of passengers with minor injuries, and 5 peeps in hospital

There has been reports of survivors from 60 to them all. This looks like an A340-300 292 passengers plus crew, one pilot was found wandering on the highway by police

They are still trying to coroborate this but it's looking good !
