I have been told by a student in circumstances that lead to to belive it true ( IE. in a job interview), that as part of their university course, one assignment was to make an improvised explosive device. It was the explosives module of some forensic engineering course. They used bits from a scrap yard.

Can this be true? Are we now training terrorists in-house at my expense?

I have too books printer off the internet which give instructions on how to make explosives. Including the amounts needed.

This reminds me of that poem about a young lad named Tom.

Who made his own atomic bomb.

He used a detonator found at Clapham, and a slightly bent uranium atom....





I can't remember the rest of the poem, but it amused me greatly about 20 years ago.

Quite an interesting read. I even offered it up for download in my more naïve days (though it was quite harmlessly full of useless information).

Did you see the Scrapyard Challenge where they had to make an artillery piece and shoot down a wall with it?

IME most people who like making things go bang manage to teach themselves perfectly well without recourse to specialist banned texts or even completing an O-level chemistry course...
