Normal American TV shows

What show in the US is vaguely realistic of American life. The UK is full of shite American TV with pretentious teenagers, their overly emotional love life's and limitless amounts of cash while they swan around some swanky part of town.
You might have to describe it , as I doubt we'd get it here.

TV shows by definition are a long way removed from "real life".

Real life simply isn't entertaining enough...

BTW - British TV used to be the best in the world, but US TV now knocks it into a cocked hat.

I can assure you that *no* commercial American TV show is realistic about life here at all - at least to the best of my knowledge.

An aside. For whatever reason "Santa Barbara" was one of the first American TV shows to be dubbed into Russian and broadcast there...so a lot of Russian housewives think the US is like the set of Santa Barbara!

Anymore it's just ratings-driven shite, sensationalism, T&A, etc.

The occasional PBS show is worth watching and some are realistic considering their subject (which is normally something unusual)

Then again a show of life as it is around here would bore you out of your gourd!!

To be honest I haven't found such a show in my 6 years of living in the USA.

I have enjoyed The Apprentice, The Restaurant, Hell's Kitchen, The Simpsons, South Park plus Friends, Joey, Will & Grace but I don't think any fits your request for a 'normal' show.

I really like Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy right now, but it is just good entertainment.

Seinfeld is a favourite of mine and probably the closest to what you are looking for. "It's a show about nothing...." to quote them verbatim.
