Reading festival

Thinking about going for just the friday to see the pixies, qotsa & the weddoes amongst others. I went years ago just for the day (can't remember the year but we watched the fall, carter usm and james headlined I think so it was some time ago) and camped on the leisure center field next to the farm (pitched the tent before we went in when there was no one else there and when we got back there were loads of tents there)... do people still do this or have the authorities got wind of this and stopped people doing this?

Failing that, what time does the headline act finish on the friday night?

The Rivermead leisure centre fields are nowadays used for camping and carparking anyway. If you don't have a camping ticket then you won't be able to get round the back of the leisure centre.

Main stage acts on the Friday normally finish around midnight I think. Certainly between 11pm and midnight.

Ok thanks, last train home is 12.15 which is cutting it a bit fine. Taxi shouldn't be too bad I guess.

They used to cancel all of the late trains over festival weekend when I used to go. Ended up having to wake my dad up and get him to come and collect four seriously muddy b*stards in his pristine Rover Sterling one year. Cheers dad!

What is it with this reading festival? Why can't people just stay home to read their books?

Pixies eh? Saw them play there donky's years ago - utterly awesome. I finally managed to get up for some crowd surfing and got rolled from one side of the crowd to the other - right across the front of the stage. Everytime the bouncers went to pull me out the front the crowd pulled me back just out of their reach. It was so packed that I couldn't actually get back down for a about 30 minutes. Practically saw their whole set from on top of the crowd!

...and bloody hell carter usm.... think that was the last time I went too
