Cheap hoe ?

My father is a keen gardener and is in the process of re-seeding the flower beds at the rear of his back garden.

I thought it would be a nice surprise if I were to get him some new tools for the job.

I live in an apartment so am not really a gardener myself.

Does anyone know where it would be possible to buy a cheap hoe and possibly an inexpensive trowel and pitch folk.

Obviously he will not be using the tools regularly so I do not want to spend a great deal of money....

Just a word of warning - you usually get what you pay for with things like this.

I had a mate who paid for a cheap hoe once and he had unsightly growth emerging between the cracks very soon afterwards....

The thing with a cheap hoe is you don't mind throwing them to the back of the garden shed once they've been soiled.

The more expensive the hoe, the better people tend to look after them. It is most rewarding to be able to use your tool with a bit of pride.

Cheap hoes are of suspect quality.
They may be ok for some tasks but sometimes its possible to purchase an awful one of flawed design. You wouldnt want to be seen gardening in public with one.

Rich where's your local Garden centre ?

It depends on the quality of metal used, which in turn depends on the quality of Iron Ore used to make the steel.

If the steel has been made from a Premium Ore then it will be very good, but if it's a Common Ore then obviously the quality will be lower.
