Neither have anything the other wants. Neither could attack the other as they're too far away and the mounted police horses can't swim that far. Am I right in saying no-one has ever invaded Australia because no-one wants it?

might be a bit difficult to launch a suprise invasion from either side.
Both rely on the US for protection so I guess it would just end up as another US civil war
anyway for comparison

Whoever attacked would lose. Neither side has sufficient naval or air power to move a large enough force for a succesful invasion of the home nation.
Man for man they'd be out numbered (lack of transports both air & sea based). Aircraft to aircraft they'd be out numbered (lack of land bases in range & no naval air power to speak of) & would be lucky to get significant numbers of men on the ground as the defending air force in company with the defending navy would tear the heart out of the attacking force before they got a single soldier landed.

Ah but remember Austrlia has a powerful ally in USA and Canada has a powerful ally in France. Given that the two larger allys don't like each other very much and are both nuclear powers I can see the potential for an interesting conflict.

Hey, I am not an Australian, but there are a lot of reasons to invade it! Not only is it BIG, but its also quite a nice place - but thats not the main reason - it has some of the biggest ore deposits in the world as well as being one of the (if not THE biggest) exporter of uranium..... they have some top stuff just under that desert and its worth a fortune.....

Anyway, the Australians would win because they're good at sport. War does count as a sport doesn't it?
