Phones - changing firmware - how?

Just got a free SonyEricsson K750i, but thinking of changing the firmware so that it thinks its a W800i (as far as I can make out, only difference is the software it runs on)

Anyone done this, or know how I do it, without paying to send it off to someone? (there are people out there charging to do exactly this, but would rather have a go myself and not lose the phone for several days)

Well, you need a cable. Then I'd advise hunting around various mobile forums, you'll find the software.

The SE website does free firmware updates btw.

Yup got the USB cable as well as bluetooth connection. SE website does upgrades, via the support section, but there is currently no support section for the W800 as it isn't out until tomorrow.

Perhaps I should google it...

Does it take a memory card? I do all my firmware upgrades through this load on the software stick it in the phone and run the upgrade.

But it is a Treo 650 and very easy to do.

It does yes, it takes a sony memory stick duo. The main problem is finding the firmware really. I'm hoping it will appear on the SE website in the next few days, and that it doesn't refuse to upload the firmware because it's for a different model!
