Thought he was excellent.

Humour is the best way to defuse perceived atitudes I think.

I feel at the moment the general opinion here would be that ANYONE from the Middle East, whilst maybe not a rabid extremist Muslim, might very well be someone who isn't exactly a bundle of laughs.

Well the fact is that despite Iranian roots he's 100% Westernised. No 'outsider' could make up successful comedy material ike that.

Saw Jack Dee in Bournemouth a few months ago. Very funny, very dry and VERY good at dealing with hecklers - a student tried bigging it up in front of his mates by shouting out. JD immediately stopped his routine and spent a good 10 minutes ripping him to pieces (fairly inoffensively !). Had the whole audience in stiches. No one heckled after that....

At the end of the show he asked the heckler to stand and take a bow - nice touch.

He is genuinelly funny, he's been in quite a few Hollywood blockbusters too, was very very funny in The Mummy, and was also in Gladiator, apparently, Oliver Reed actually twisted his goolies for real in that scene where they're negotiating prices for the slaves! lol

Yeah I've seen this Omid chap's stand-up routine before, thought he was a funny guy.

Jack Dee I've seen twice live; he's in my top five favourite comedians. Even watching his live DVDs I soil myself, despite knowing the gag's coming in advance...

I remember seeing Jack Dee in one of his older shows, (good 10 years ago), and he had a joke about a school teacher, and his fascination with mojo wrappers! And the bit about the jumpers his nan would sew! "peel your face off". Had me in stitches!

No, they can't laugh unless they've been 100% westernised, as humour doesn't exist in any other culture, apart from our own.... if you'd spent your life watching murdoch tv you'd know that too....

Seriously though, Omid Djalili's stand up routine is fecking hilarious and I would urge people to try and see him, when he's on tour.
